Help Needed for Sandbag Clean up

The Beltrami County Sheriff’s Office of Emergency Management, along with the City of Bemidji Public Works department, will be hosting a “clean up the sandbags” work effort on Tuesday, April 28, 2009 Therefore, we are calling for all hardy souls to respond to this plea for help. If you are available to help empty sandbags we need you.

We will have a bus stationed at the Boys and Girls Club in Bemidji (15th St NW and Minnesota Ave NW) at two different times. The first shift will run from 10:00 AM- 3:30 PM (be at the bus by 9:30); second shift 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM. (Be at the bus by 3:30 if possible). Please park and ride to avoid congestion at the scene.

We will transport workers to Tyler Estates and back. Red Cross will be on hand with snacks and water. The City of Bemidji will have roll off trucks available to dump the sand into. Please dress for the weather.

If this effort is completed, we will then move to another location to take care of one residence. If not, we will be sending out a press release for additional help for Wednesday.

Also we invite homeowners to call 218-333-8320 if they are need of assistance with sandbag issues (other than Tyler Estates and Spring Dr-those are already on the list.)

It is extremely important that all volunteers are signed in and then sign out when done. We need to document all hours as they count for FEMA assistance. Clipboards will be on the bus.
