The Pequot Lakes and Pine River- Backus Community Education programs

The Pequot Lakes and Pine River- Backus Community Education programs have mailed their combined fall 2009 classes and activities bulletin. Watch for the fall guide to classes and activities to come in your mail box soon. The Guide has information on community events, a wide variety of classes offered by community based instructors and information about how to sign up.

There are things to do for individuals of all ages. The ECFE (Early Childhood Family Education) program has classes for infants through five year olds. School Readiness is open for preschool aged children who will be old enough to go to Kindergarten next school year.

Youth classes and activities for school aged children are also found in the Community Education guide. You can learn how to feed the birds, beginning dance, Tae Kwon Do, make scientific discoveries and check out baking skills. In Pequot Lakes check out the schedule for Kid Konnection school age child care (Kindergarten through 6th grade) or you can find out what is happening at the Eclipse Teen Center (6th grade through 12th grade. Youth Sports registration has been completed for the fall sports of football, volleyball and soccer. Late sports registrations will be accepted if there is space available. Support Youth Sports by signing up to attend the Golf Scramble on Sunday, September 13th at Whitefish Golf Course.

Adults are able to sign up for many enrichment classes. Have you been meaning to learn more about using a digital camera? Would you like to know more about travel to a foreign country? Is it time to get back into you fitness routine with water aerobics?

Seniors in the community are encouraged to attend a community education enrichment class, too. In addition, you can call and use the senior van to take you to appointments in Pequot Lakes on Tuesdays or to go to Brainerd on Thursdays.
